Bounty

Sailing Vessel "Bounty"

It seems that the third time is the charm. So far this year we have cleaned, provisioned and set up three boats but this time "Bounty"is our future home.

She is a 38ft Ingrid designed (of course) by William Atkin. Ketch rigged, built by Blue Water yachts in 1979 in fiberglass. We purchased her in Oriental, North Carolina which has been her home since 2007 or thereabouts. Now we just have to learn how to sail a ketch rig and one with so many modern systems.

The Inter coastal waterway is the perfect place to start getting to know the boat, though it is hurricane season and she is a deep draught boat in a place that has lots of shallow water. We are intending to head North to avoid the nasty storms and aim to go as far as Maine if we have the time. The people of Oriental have been so helpful. This is a lovely little town of 900 people and 2500 boats.
